Why stretch?

Stretching is so commonly put at the bottom of the to do list or rushes past.. However, it holds so many incredible benefits for your body! So I wanted to give you a few important reasons to motivate you to hit the floor and stretch it out!

1. Has been shown to increase circulation
2. Increases range of motion which in turn will help to prevent injuries
3. Has been proven to increase strength and performance when training
4. Aids in recovery
5. Improves posture
6. Has been suggested to reduce stress, both physical and emotional
7. Benefits the function of all organs

So as you can see, 10 minutes a day can seriously improve your help! Ensure your holding your stretches for at least 20 seconds, and breathe slowly as you deepen the stretch bit by bit!

A chat with Censki

If you've been on instagram lately I'm sure you will have seen this stunning ladies photos being posted. 'Censki' has skyrocketed to a huge 100k adoring followers and she deserves it.. The advice she gives her followers is spot on, she knows what she is talking about and there is great quality in her content. With an absolutely rocking bod and awesome personality there's no wonder she's killing it. So here is my little chat with Censki...

So many are inspired by you, but tell us what inspires you every day??

Like minded people who are passionate about health and fitness and being the best they can be everyday! Also the 2 most amazing men in my life, my fiancé and my dad inspire me everyday to be a better person :)

You have a masters in fashion, what are your thoughts on women's activewear these days?

Love them! Favorites have to be Nike and Stella McCartney. Obsessed with neons at the moment and Nike is just killing it with their new free run colors, prints & designs!

If you had one week to spend however you pleased, how would you spend it?

Hands down on an island with my fiancé chilling, tanning, sipping on fresh coconuts!

You give out a lot of excellent information to your followers, do you have any advice to others on how to find information they may be seeking?

Be pro active and do your research! There are lots of great articles online and books you can get to read up on anything you're unsure about! There is so much to learn about your body, health and nutrition!

If you could invite any 3 people join you for a dinner party who would you choose?

Christine Centenrena, fashion editor of Vogue Austalia, Emmanuelle Alt, Editor in chief of Vogue Paris and her assistant stylist Geraldine Saglio. I know this is not fitness related AT all but they are my ultimate style icons, and extremely influential women in the fashion industry, and fashion has been a big passion of mine for many many years.

We absolutely love your fitness page, but tell us 3 things un fitness related about yourself that we don't know yet?

I'm getting married to my best friend and soulmate next April! Luckiest girl ever, so excited!

I was born in Singapore, lived in Bangkok for a 3 years where I went to an International high school, and have been rliving in Melbourne for the last 7 years. As a result my accent is a weird hybrid of Aussie/American lol.

I'm abit of an ink addict, I've got 4 tattoos at the moment but dying to get more!

Fighting the fear of the dreaded 'weights' section

Signing up to a gym or fitness establishment can be really daunting for alot of people! I know when i first joined my local gym i was freaking out. What am i doing? What do i wear? Why is everyone so serious? Are people judging me? How do they all know what they are doing? And of course, the most commonly thought question, What on earth does that machine do?! For people who are on their own, the easiest and most common thing to do is of course, power walk straight to the cardio area avoiding any eye contact to where we can plug in our headphones and walk like hampsters on a wheel for the next half hour without being bothered. Seriously, im sure this is what 90% of us all did on our very first visit!

Now i'm not saying that cardio doesnt have its benefits, because it does! Any activity is better than no activty at all right? Cardio is great for your cardiovascular system, and you may be suprised to learn that in Australia heart disease is at the very top of the diseases which kill women every year. So make sure you are incorporating it into your workout plan. However! I cannot stress enough the amazing results and benifits you will recieve from taking a deep breathe, doing some research, stepping off that treadmill and making your way over to the WEIGHTS SECTION. All those fit and sexy fitness models havent achieved their bodies through hours of cardio, they've been over in those squat racks and using those cables. The benefits of weight training are practically never ending, Higher metabolism, Increased energy levels, better posture, makes day to day tasks easier, better mood, stronger heart, decreased risk of diabetes and the list goes on.
